Robinhood Adds Free Premarket and Extended Hours Trading

Robinhood, the fastest growing brokerage account to date, has now announced that it will allow it’s customers to trade in premarket and extended hours for free. The broker has seen tremendous growth since it’s inception mostly due to it’s free trading and ease of use for young investors.

Up until now their customers had to set up a margin account, called Robinhood Gold, to have access to premarket and extended hours. The company can now say that they offer free trading, after hours and premarket trading, options trading and cryptocurrency trading in certain states without fees as well. Cryptocurrency trading is currently available in 18 states with plans to add more soon.

-Pre-Market opens 30 minutes earlier starting at 9:00 AM EST
-Extended-Hours trading continues for 120 minutes (2 hours) until 6:00 PM EST

Customers can now take advantage of changes in the market during those time due to items such as earnings announcements, activity in foreign markets and news events.

The brokerage business has become very competitive as of late as we also saw this week Vanguard offering free trading for ETF’s on their platform.
