Golem is a peer to peer project running on the Ethereum network that allows users to sell the excess processing power of their computer. Other users on the network can purchase processing power for complex tasks. The three year project has now gone live.The current version of the project allows users to rent unused CPU power for creating 3D imagery using the open source application Blender. Computer processing power can be traded for GNT (Golem Tokens) through an interface that connects to Blender. Users that rent out their processing power can trade GNT for other currencies on exchanges that accept GNT.
Future plans for the project are to create a dedicated plugin for Blender and to expand the network to allow resources for machine learning.
